Wild Wonders brings students outdoors to discover the edible and useful plants growing all around them. Through hands-on exploration, plant identification, journaling, tasting, and seasonal activities, students build practical identification skills while developing curiosity, confidence, and a deeper connection with the natural world. Facilitated by Certified Herbalist and forager Terri Smith of Natural Garden Grows, programs are adapted by age and learning level with an emphasis on safe plant identification and responsible foraging. 🌿 Four Seasons of Plant Discovery 16 Wild Edible Plants • 4 Seasonal Visits • 1 Completed Plant Detective Journal Sept/Oct/Nov — Fall Plant Detectives: 5 seasonal plants Jan/Feb — Winter Plant Detectives: 5 plants, with a focus on winter identification clues Mar/Apr — Spring Plant Detectives: 6 plants to complete their journals May/June — Foraged Feast & Review: Students put their knowledge to the test and celebrate with a hands-on wild food experience and “Potion Station” salad dressing activity. By the end of the school year, students will have learned to safely identify 16 wild edible plants and created their own Plant Detective Journal to keep. 🌱 Individual Workshop Option Schools can also book the original two-part Wild Wonders experience without a full-year commitment: Plant Detectives — $150 per class/group Foraged Feast — $150 per class/group 💚 Pricing Four-Season Wild Wonders Program — $550 per class/group Includes all four visits, Plant Detective journaling, 16 featured plants and the year-end Foraged Feast & Review. Seasonal invoicing is available. Wild Wonders has been enjoyed by students at Cottonwood Rose Nature School, Beachcomber Academy, and NIDES in the Comox Valley, with wonderful engagement and enthusiasm along the way.
