Service Description

Early Spring Plant Walk - Cumberland Forest Join me for a gentle, guided walk through the Cumberland Forest as we explore the early signs of spring and the plants beginning to emerge. This walk will focus on seasonal awareness — how early spring greens support the body after winter, and why these plants arrive exactly when we need them. We’ll spend time learning how to recognize some common plants, understanding their role in both the landscape and our own well-being, and building confidence in observing what’s growing around us and how we can incorporate them into our meals. We’ll also cover ethical and safe foraging practices, including how to harvest responsibly and respectfully within shared natural spaces. Meeting at the entrance to the Cumberland Community Forest at the end of Sutton Road. We’ll follow a gentle loop through the forest from there. This walk explores the synergistic relationship between seasonal plant growth and seasonal human biology — a natural “handshake” between the nature and humans. When we eat, drink, and work with plants in rhythm with the seasons, we stop forcing wellness and begin partnering with nature’s intelligence. This gentle, accessible walk is a wonderful way to learn about the plants that grow each season, right in our own backyards — food and medicine hiding in plain sight, providing exactly what your body needs at the right time. These plants are: ✨ Readily available ✨ Highly nutritious ✨ Surprisingly tasty ✨ And completely free During this walk you’ll learn: • How to safely identify common wild edibles • Basic harvesting ethics and sustainability practices • Traditional and modern uses for food and simple home remedies • How to begin building confidence with wild plants This is a slow-paced, relaxed walk and is accessible to all abilities. No prior experience needed — just curiosity and comfortable walking shoes. Saturday, April 11th | 10:30AM – 12:30 PM
